Week 15: Asian Invasion

September 3, 2013

MY FAM!

My new baby, Sister Hyoung, is here! SHE IS AMAZING! She, like Sister Hollan, was a piano performance major at BYU, but she's even better. Like, she has practiced 8 hours a day for 14 years of her life. I am feeling slightly sheepish that I have never been dedicated to anything like that in my life (except maybe sleeping), but it's fine. :) I listened to her play after District Meeting on Friday and I was in tears. Incredible. Oh... and she won a competition and played in Disney Hall one time. NBD. She is from Northridge, CA and she's Korean (yes, she said I could title my email Asian Invasion because she loves calling herself out on Asian things she does- and "Hyoung" actually means "brother" in Korean, so that's funny) :) and is so friendly! I have been a wuss about contacting people on the bus, I am ashamed to admit, but she is a ROCKSTAR at it. She is giving me the courage I need!

That being said, I am missing Sister Slater, but I got to see her AND Sister Hollan at the temple yesterday. I'm already getting excited to see all of these beautiful new friends at mission reunions in the future. :)

The temple was AMAZING! I felt like a kid on Christmas. The Spirit was so strong and I was so touched at the beauty, mercy, and perfection of God's plan for us and the tenderness and love of our Savior for us manifest by his role in making it possible for us to return home. I also realized that one reason we cannot be made perfect without our dead is because we can only go to the temple to make covenants for ourselves once, but it takes a long time to learn what we need to learn at the temple and doing work in their behalf is the only way we can go to the temple again and again. (I think you all probably had that figured out, but it's fun to realize things.) :) Oh, Dad- Pres. Kim B. Clark was in my session! :)

And the Red Sox game was fun! (The temple was better.) :) They didn't win, but I still had fun cheering and watching some incredible players.

Have I mentioned how much I love Cambridge?! And this ward is incredible. I am loving these people more and more each day.

Caty is still rocking it. She LOVES Personal Progress, Young Women's, the Book of Mormon, EVERYTHING! And William is ridiculous- in a good way. He is already living so perfectly. We are hoping to find him a wife by getting him to Institute. Who knew matchmaking was part of being a missionary?! :) And we're still teaching Ramona, the Salazars' neighbor. We love her! The progress is slow, but we had some good, needed lessons this week. It's very humbling to have the Spirit work through you to give you the words you need to say. And it helps so much to have the Salazars there. As President Packard says, "Our work will live or die by our members!"

ODETTE IS SO CUTE! And Mom and Dad, remember how you're going into the MTC next week?!!? This is too crazy! :)

Okay, must run. I love you all so very very much!
Love,
Sister Wheeler
