Hello my dearest family!
It's been a good week! I've decided it might be easiest to update you by person instead of by day, so here goes! :)
The Cooper girls are doing splendidly! Arthurlyn actually liked Primary this week (thanks for your prayers! and thanks to Sister Washington who is rocking her new calling as the Primary President!) And Lydia is still loving Young Women's. They all seemed to be fellowshipped so well at the ward linger longer yesterday (Happy Birthday to the Branch!). We taught them lesson 3 on Friday and their comments were fantastic. They really seem to be getting it and we're excited for their baptism on Sunday!
Susannah, our recent convert, has been acting weird about going to the temple with the Relief Society this coming Saturday. We tried to do some damage control with a review of the Restoration + temple work with a member there who is her good friend, and I think the lesson went as well as it could've, but she was still going to pray about it. There may be some language/culture barriers getting in the way, but she prayed and felt okay about it and has a recommend to go now and I have no doubt that she will feel the powerful Spirit in the temple when we go, but say a little prayer for her please! :)
Kalyn and Mychelle... are little punks. We went over to meet with them Wednesday (we don't usually meet in their house) and walked in and realized they had a cat and left within a minute, but it knocked out Sister Klecker for the rest of the day. They were nice about it and agreed to meet with us the next day at the park, but when we got to their street, they saw us from where they were up ahead and bolted. They are the lamest. So... we'll work on that. They're just being 14.
Sherri is also giving us a tough time. She hasn't been able to meet this week and she didn't come to church yesterday. :( We will see what we can do!
Amanda Rezendes stood us up. Or she forgot we were coming. I just don't know what's going on. She seems so friendly when we do catch her at home and schedule with her. So frustrating when we get a member all set up to come with us to an appointment and it falls through! Julie was with us, so we stopped by another Mormon.org referral who wasn't there and she took us to lunch. :) Sometimes I feel like I'm hanging out with my sister when I'm with Julie. :)
Sister Klecker and I had a much needed companionship inventory that has helped us to better understand one another. It really helped highlight weaknesses I have that I already knew I needed to work on, but now I can better see how to do it. She is awesome! So understanding and patient and hysterical. Also, our wonderful Elders Bartlett and Butters were able to give her a blessing and once again, the power that is present in Priesthood ordinances and blessings is undeniably real and powerful. I am so grateful for it!
We exchanged last night so Sister Klecker could go to a meeting and I was with Sister States who is less allergic to cats, so we were able to go to the Washingtons. It was so great! Aaron wasn't supposed to be home, but he walked in halfway through dinner. We were able to have some good interaction with him and he didn't sit down for the lesson, but he was listening from the kitchen. We were able to share a short message about the Spirit World (something our Branch Mission Leader had told us Aaron had been asking about recently) and leave a commitment directed to the family. We will be having FHE with them next week and Aaron seemed to be looking forward to it! YAYAYAYAYAY! I LOVE THE WASHINGTONS SO MUCH!
We've been studying chapters in the Book of Mormon that President Packard has recommended that teach about the Atonement. As a mission, we are studying these chapters this transfer. I was reading 3 Nephi 11 this week and the Spirit was so strong as I was reading Christ's words to the Nephites. He is real. And He loves us so perfectly. And I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon that testifies so clearly of Him.
I love you all so much and am looking forward to our Mother's Day Skype! :)
Love,
Sister Wheeler Jr.
P.S. This Friday we'll get transfer texts. Please pray I stay here one more transfer!
And more importantly, please pray for:
Thelma Cooper and her daughters Lydia, Arthurlyn, and Joyce (this week will probably be tough because it's the week before their baptism and that ALWAYS happens!)
Susannah Kulor
Aaron Washington
Kalyn Waite
Mychelle Briggs
Sherri and Chantel Newton
Maya Johnson
Sara Maroto
Amanda Rezendes
