Week 21

October 15, 2013

Hello my family!

I feel like last week's email was much more put-together, so I apologize if this one pales in comparison. I just get so caught up reading/enjoying your emails and the time gets away from me!

THANK YOU ALL for your prayers for Allison. The lesson with her on Wednesday night went SO well. We were able to clarify our purpose and she said if we didn't really get to teach her everything, she's open to hearing more. SO EXCITED TO START TEACHING HER! The only question is when. School is keeping her so busy, but we will figure it out! Keep praying for her. :) I LOVE HER SO MUCH!

We got new Elders, and we're stoked. They are both so righteous and hardworking and we're hoping it helps build trust with the Bishopric soon! (Apparently one of the last Elders was pretty openly disregarding of Bishop/his authority. Annoying!) Jord, one of them is Garrett Sutherland and he says he knows you! One of T.J. Young's friends. He's SO funny and very kind and such a GREAT missionary! He says hello! I guess he's not very new- we've had him for about a month, but he just got a new companion, Elder Boren, who was actually his trainee. Didn't know that was possible! Can't decide if I'd be excited or nervous to be with Sister Hollan again. :) They work really well together and now that everything is settled, we're going to be doing weekly planning with them and sharing our finding/teaching pools.

Sister Hyoung and I made a goal last week to have 3 new investigators. We didn't quite get there and we're trying to evaluate why. I think it's a combination of 1-we didn't try hard enough (we both agreed that we were still a bit too wussy on the bus talking to people) 2- maybe it was too lofty? BUT, it was awesome to set the goal and feel the Spirit flood our work from the moment we left our apartment. We have so many more potential investigators now because we did much better than usual talking to people on the bus and street. There were some major miracles happening last week! One of them was Raj. We walked right up to him on the street and asked him if he wanted to learn more and he was so excited! He grew up Hindu but has been reading the New Testament and was very interested in learning more. Where is my faith?! There are people EVERYWHERE in this city who are searching for the truth. (Jord, I know I have it way easier here with so many people, so I will be better!)

And we did get one new investigator, Dusya! The singles' ward sisters found her and started teaching her but transferred her to us because she may be moving into our ward. We just taught her today and she is so sweet. She's struggling with a lot right now, but has felt the Spirit so much as she's come to the RS Broadcast and Conference and our ward twice. We are so excited to be teaching her! Sister Hyoung has not had an investigator yet and she loved being able to teach her today.

Family, this gospel is true. And it makes me so happy! This is the Lord's work and his Restored church. Our Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for us and it is such a privilege to be able to share that truth with others who are searching for it. Being a missionary is amazing. :)

Alright, going to run! I love you all so much!
Love,
Sister Wheeler

P.S. Saw the Johns family from the 29th? ward! It was weird to recognize someone from home. Also, Sandra Cannon was in the area and said hi through some other sisters.
